A sound book in worn boards, front cover illustrated with princess in a sedan chair. Colour frontis . One full-page colour plate, tipped in, by “Harry” = Rountree?, ‘Up in a Balloon’ 3 bears in a balloon basket, Many b/w illustrations in text, several probably by Rountree. BRITISH LEATHER – A Record of Achievement
From the title you wouldn’t know what was missing from the title, that is, “in the Second World War. The book has some superb evocative illustrations (though I have to admit not “Macabre”, I slipped that in as I don’t think they covered all bases). This is aptly, a leather bound copy, previously owned by WL Ingle Ltd Leeds. Printed by Batsford, undated but I think it was published in 1946, that makes sense with the contents.

I have over 33 foot of Observer Books in various locations in my shop, there could quite possibly be more waiting to be found. Before you ask, there are none of the more obviously rare ones; I sold them at book fairs quite a few years ago. When I am allowed to open again I would prefer to open by appointment. The shop is at least 200 yards outside Heckmondwike, please contact me to see if we can fix a mutually convenient time. I am looking to sell books without jackets (but I don’t have a lot of them) from £1.00 and books with Jackets from £2.50, as I said I don’t have any of the obviously rare ones so the prices don’t go that high. I did at one time in the past try to catalogue the books listing dates and print codes, but I gave up. I took a lot more pictures but they are lost somewhere on my phone.
